RotaRod

Species

Mouse

Fields of application

The RotaRod System is a tool for studying motor coordination or fatigue resistance.

The mice are placed on a horizontally oriented, rotating rod. The speed of the RotaRod can be constant or accelerated. Mice naturally try to stay on the rotating rod and avoid falling to the ground.

The model can be used for the following fields of application:

  • Central nervous system damage
  • Disease effects on motor activity
  • Drug administration
  • Fatigue testing
  • Therapeutic efficacy
  • Proof of concept

Endpoints / outcome parameter

  • Motor coordination of skeletal muscles
  • Fatigue resistance
