👨🔬 ➡️ 🧑💻 Out of the lab coat and into the world of numbers: Leander has taken this unusual path. After training as a chemical-technical assistant and starting as a lab technician at #FraunhoferIZI, he discovered his fascination for business administration while studying economics alongside his job. In 2022, he found his new home in #Controlling and has been advising scientists on planning their research projects ever since.
📊 📈 👨🎓 But that's not all: to deepen his growing interest in strategic topics, Leander started an extra-occupational Master's degree with a focus on Controlling last year. With the support of the Fraunhofer IZI, which assisted him with the planning and paid the majority of the tuition fees, he is continuing to expand his expertise.

Successfully managing large networks? No problem with the right tools! 🛠️ Ilka has a degree in biology and started at #FraunhoferIZI as a project manager in Business Development, where she further expanded her previous professional experience in project management. With the one-year »Fraunhofer Research Manager« programme, she deepened her practical knowledge for her role at the interface of #research and economic value creation and expanded her entrepreneurial skills.
🚀 The programme formed the launch pad for her development from project manager to Head of Research Management at the institute. Accompanied by customised leadership training, she takes on personnel responsibility and coordinates large strategic collaborative projects such as the #SaxoCell precision therapy cluster with her team.

Susann
🚀 Ready for take-off: Susann joined the institute as a technical lab assistant in the cleanroom, where she produced cell-based therapeutics for cancer therapy. When she took over responsibility for a project team on a temporary basis during a colleague's parental leave, she discovered her passion and talent for leadership. It quickly became clear that this was to become something permanent!
💪🎓 In order to become equipped for her newfound responsibility, Susann completed the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft's »Start Leading« basic qualification programme, which is specially tailored to new managers in science. With a high level of practical relevance and a focus on feedback and self-reflection, she developed her leadership skills in a targeted manner. Since 2018, she has been successfully leading her own team 👥💼.

🚀 After an internship and a master's thesis at #FraunhoferIZI, Christin completed her doctorate in the field of DNA nanotechnology. She went through the Fraunhofer IZI Talent Program to prepare for a career as an expert in flow cytometry. Today, Christin works as a research associate in the DNA Nanosystems Group and coordinates the cross-departmental Advanced Analytics technology platform at the institute.
