As a consultant in internal medicine, haematology, oncology and immunology, he combines his practical clinical work in his capacity as a senior physician at Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH with research and teaching. In this context, the close and successful cooperation between Fraunhofer IZI and Chemnitz hospital, as well as the university hospitals in Dresden and Leipzig offers unique opportunities for interdisciplinary projects in the field of cell and gene therapy and the transfer of innovations from medical research into practice. This will be done, in particular, as part of the SaxoCell® future cluster sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Moreover, the TUD model program for medical training, MEDiC, at the campus of Klinikum Chemnitz gGmbH facilitates the direct connection between forward-looking training concepts and clinical practice so as to ensure both practical and high-quality medical training for the students.
