Fields of application
Collagen induced arthritis (CIA) in mice is a well characterized animal model for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in man. CIA is induced by intradermal injection of an emulsion consisting of collagen II and an adjuvant into the tail base. Within some days animals develop arthritic symptoms in the limbs. CIA is an acute model for RA. About 35 days after onset clinical symptoms decline. Assessment of clinical symptoms is realized by means of an established scoring system.
