About 1,000 international participants will talk about new stem cell technologies, tissue engineering, biomaterials, diagnostics and the molecular basis of regeneration. A more detailed focus has been placed on regenerative therapies for neurological, cardiological, oncological and autoimmune diseases. Bone, cartilage and skin defects are a special focus of tissue replacement.

An academic workshop of the European Medicines Agency (EMA) entitled "Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products: from bench to bedside" will take place for the first time in Leipzig. It is bringing together representatives from industry, science and regulatory authorities to discuss future development pathways and challenges for translation of research to commercial medicinal products. The workshop is jointly organised by the Committee for Advanced Therapies (CAT) of the European Medicines Agency and the Translational Centre for Regenerative Medicine of the Universität Leipzig.

The conference places special focus on the next generation of scientists: Special non-topic-restricted “PhD-Sessions” have been reserved for young scientists and PhD students to present their work to an international audience. A discounted student rate rounds off the WRM’s young scientists program.

In addition to the scientific program, the event will serve as a platform for informal exchanges and networking. A versatile evening program with an opening get-together, a poster party and a social evening event offers participants the possibility to network with their colleagues in science and business.

The biannual World Conference on Regenerative Medicine is organized by the Fraunhofer Institute for Cell Therapy and Immunology IZI and the Translational Center for Regenerative Medicine (TRM) of the Universität Leipzig.
