Frequently asked questions regarding your application to the Fraunhofer IZI

What documents should be submitted as a minimum as part of my application?

Your application should contain a cover letter written for the specific position, an up-to-date CV, your leaving and examination certificates and references concerning your previous employment activities and training. Please pay attention to a careful processing of your application. Your CV should be clear and complete. Please make sure that the information given is consistent with your certificates and supporting documents.

How can I provide evidence of my previous employment activities?

There are two ways of doing this. On the one hand, you can submit written employment references which describe your previous employment activities. On the other hand, you can provide the names and contact details of three people who are able to sufficiently assess your previous work. Should you opt for the latter, these people should be your previous line managers.

I would like to apply for an advertised position. How can I submit my application?

To apply please use our online job market. To do this, you have to first create an applicant profile and upload your application documents. Your information can then be accessed by the local HR department.

Can I apply for a position in writing by post?

The Fraunhofer IZI has digitalised its entire applicant management system. It is no longer possible to apply for positions in writing by post. In exceptional cases, please contact the local HR department before submitting your application.

How and where should I send speculative applications?

If there are currently no open positions available, or if the advertised position does not fit your applicant profile, you are welcome to send us a speculative application. Speculative applications cannot be submitted over the online job market. They can only be sent by email. Please see the information above on the minimum requirements regarding application documents.

There are two ways of submitting a speculative application. Firstly, you are welcome to apply directly to the relevant unit or departmental head. We recommend this approach if you have a good idea of the area in which you would like to work in future. You will then be able to address several managers. If you are not yet sure of the precise area in which you would like to work, you should send your application to the local HR department.

How long is my information saved at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft?

You are free to withdraw your application and also to delete your profile from the job market at any time. If you do not actively delete your profile, we shall keep your information in our database for a maximum of six months following completion of the recruitment process. After six months at the latest we will anonymise your information. Anonymised data records are then kept purely for statistical evaluation purposes.

Is my information kept confidential?

The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft observes the regulations laid out in the German Federal Data Protection Act. For more details, please see our data protection declaration, which you will be shown if you send us your application online.

What does TVöD mean?

TVöD is the German Collective Agreement for the Public Service. The Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft acts in compliance with the regulations set out in this wage agreement with regard to employment, remuneration and social security benefits.
