The unit develops diagnostic and analytical test systems for environmental, food and clinical applications.
Main research areas include liquid biopsy-based procedures, point-of-care tests for the detection of infections, cancer or neurodegenerative diseases aiming to provide a safer and faster answer to the patient.
The system developments include the specific preparation of samples for the isolation of target molecules from complex matrices, the development of molecular detection methods as well as their integration and evaluation.
In addition, the applications of novel chemo- and biosensors as well as a platform for smartphone-based diagnostics are being developed.
