Vesicle-based Immunomodulation

Exosomes as a cell-free therapeutic tool in the Alzheimer model (ExoTherAl)

Development of a therapy concept for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's with the aid of extracellular vesicles taken from mesenchymal stem cells.

Extracellular vesicles in rheumatoid arthritis (EVRA)

As part of this project, mesenchymal stromal cells are to be genetically modified, allowing them to overexpress anti-inflammatory molecules and release them by means of extracellular vesicles. They will then be characterized using molecular and cell biology analyses. The immunomodulatory properties are later to be determined in the animal model and therapeutic concepts derived.
