The unit studies the many aspects of the interaction of the virus with its host. The main focus is the development of new antiviral prevention and treatment strategies. To this end, we study the as yet poorly understood mechanisms of innate intracellular defence against viral infections and the influence of co-factors of the host cell. Furthermore, we aim to achieve a modulation of the immune response.
